Holy shit, Obito going on a bloody rampage was something else, animation and direction was something else. I'm gonna guess Kakashi was forced to kill Rin as she was being controlled by the enemy and that's why they wanted to retrieve her corpse, it would reveal the jutsu they used.
Also the Zetsu helping Obito out was weirdly wholesome

From what i can understand, Rin's body was the enemies' goal so kakashi killed her so as to stop intel linking

there was a tail beast in her body and they wanted to destroy konoha with it and hence they used rin

if kakashi killed rin or obito showed up even a minute later/earlier, kakashi could've actually told obito what he was about to do or they could've strategized on what else to do with their combined powers before obito witnessed rin's murder with no context. sure maybe obito would still be pissed but like, it would resolve a large chunk of the issue. and to think this misunderstanding and bad timing sparked an entire devastating world war
